MONUMENTS DIRFIS - MESSAPIA

Castle of Psachna. It is located in the region Paleopsahna or Castri, in a location that holds in check of the area of Psachna to Chalkida, in an altitude of 210 meters (Hill of Profitis Ilias).

Tower of Psachna. Ruins of a square Venetian Tower (location of Agia Paraskevi).

Tower of Triada. Venetian tower to the S.E. of Triada.

Ruins of the temple of Agia Triada. Ruins of a paleochristianic building construction, on which a small rectangular chapel was reconstructed.

Residence of Kriezotis. The house of general N. Kriezotis, who owned Triada after the accession of Evia to the Greek state in 1833.

Folklore museum of Psachna. Newly-founded, but interesting museum.

Vrisakia. The place in which the Greek revolutionists under the leadership of Govios, achieved a glorious victory over the Turks in 1821. A year later, (spring of 1822) at the same place, Aggelis Govios fell to the battlefield of honor.

Tower of Politika. Well-retained Venetian tower. It is located in the centre of Politika.

Monastery of Panagia Perivleptos of Politica. It is located in a small distance from Politica. The Old Monastery (1025) is in constant operation.

Monastery of Panagia Makrimallis. Old Monastery (today a nunnery) near the settlement Makrimallis, 7 Km north of Psachna.

Monastery of Agios Ioannis Kalivitis. It is 4 Km on the NW of Psachna. The cathedral of the monastery was constructed on the remains of an anterior paleochristianic Basilica, with a lot of sculptures of the first-Byzantine period, fixtured in the walls.

Gulch of Agali. It is located near Paliouras, on the edges of Dirfis.

Skounteri. Picturesque village of Steni, with remains of a Venetian tower and small churches.

Tower Mostra (Pissonas). Venetian tower at the centre of the village.

Old monastery of Eria. It is located 1,5 km western of Kathenoi, in a gully full of plain-trees, at the place where the sources of the Venetian aqueduct of Chalkida are. It is located 1, 5 Km on the west of Katheni in a gully full of platan trees. The monastery seized to operate in 1840. The catholic is the only construction which still stands.

Historical and martial museum of Liaskos (Kontodespoti) . An extremely interesting collection with great variety of guns, documents, outfits and other collectibles of historical significance in a well-looked-after and modernly designed place.
