At
the south end of Evia, we find the Municipality of Karistos
and the Community of Kafireas. The area of the
legendary Ochi. There, for the first time Dias and
Ira came together and the mountain took its name by that
union. Karistos,
is
preserving the reputation of the mostly advanced in trade
city of Evia from the ancient years, when it dared to step
up to the domination of Athenians suffering from the
consequences of its bold act. The export of the reknown
green murble which decorated every big city of the ancient
world, was starting from there, as well as from Marmari
and Stira. Today, Karistos, with the museums, beaches
and its port, has deve-loped remarkable touristic
infrastructure with further perspectives.
Finally,
the Community of Kafireas includes the
region of the wild Kavo
Doro
and
invites those of the visitors that are in fond of the hard
routes and wish to live away from stress for a short while.
