The
many Chapels of Skiros. There are many Chapels,
scattered all over the island. Some of them are extremely
interesting.
The
historical and folklore museum of Manos Falteits. The
folklore museum of Manos Falteits is considered as one of
the best in Greece. It is necessary for every visitor of the
island to pay a visit to this museum.
The
little horses of Skiros. They are little horses,
about one meter tall, which must have a great past, since we
come across them in ancient sculptures (such as the one
representing the cortege of Panathenaea), as well as in
skeletons, found in the excavations of Vergina and
Marathonas.
These
horses are living today in semi-savage condition, mostly on
the southern part of the island. Until the half of the past
century, these little horses were living free on the
mountain during the wintertime, while during the summertime
they were offering their precious help to the people of
Skiros in their farming activities. Today, they are an
interesting sight for the visitors of Skiros.
A
worth to see is also the carnaval of Skiros.
