Avlonari one of the most beautiful villages in Evia,

is the county town of the Municipality of Avlonas, which is characterized by the great number of its villages just like the next Municipality that of Konistres.

The location of the mythical Ihalia which was destroyed ingloriously by raging Hercules, is believed to be in that region.
