In
Tris Boukes is the grave of the British poet Robert
Brooke, who died here, coming from Kalipolis.
In
Skiros, it also worths visiting the following:
Archaeological
site of Skiros (Palamari) and the Museum. The
archaeological findings that were revealed from the grounds
and the sea of Skiros, are plenty. Some of these are dated
to the Copper Age, coming from the excavations in Palamari.
The findings are exhibi-ted to the small archaeological
museum of the city.
The
Castle of Skiros. The castle of the island, with the
ancient walls, the towers and the Byzantine temple of Agios
Athanasios at the entrance, are some of the sights of
Skiros.
It
is a good idea for the tourist to pay a visit to the temple
of Agios Georgios, patron saint of Skiros,
which
is built on a higher level, to the castle of the village,
from Ioannis Tsimiskis and Nikifiros Fokas in 906.
